Older children may complain about pain and fullness in the ear (earache). Fever may be present in a child of any age and furthermore signs of upper respiratory system may also be present.

It is an ear infection which occurs between ear drum(the end of the outer ear) and the inner ear. It is basically inflammation of the middle ear which begins with otitis media effusion(that is pain less) then acute OM forms and then it get chronic.

Can quinilones treat otitis media

Commonest complication of chronic suppurative otitis media is

CSOM is a perforated tympanic membrane with persistent drainage from the middle ear. The chronically draining ear can be difficult to treat.Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus species, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and diphtheroids are the most common bacteria cultured from chronically draining ears.Anaerobes and fungi may grow concurrently with the aerobes in a symbiotic relationship.

Otitis media with effusion how it affects a child
