Strep throat is a bacterial infection of the throat. It can be treated with antibiotics such as amoxicillin, penicillin, cephalexin, azithromycin, cefprosil, cefladroxil, etc. The drugs are administered to the patient either orally or via injection. Strep throat, if left untreated, can lead to life threatening complications.
