If detected at a very early stage, lung cancer can be effectively treated and, possibly, even cured by invasive, surgical resection. In cases where the lung cancer has spread to a patient’s lymph nodes, a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and occasional surgery offer the best hope of a cure. Cancerous tumors, especially those that have spread via the bloodstream to other vital parts of the patient’s body, are treated via chemotherapy and radio therapy.
