For patients of asthma, swine flu can be more serious than for non-asthmatics. Since asthma tends to tighten the lungs of asthmatics and swine flu creates mucus in response to the H1N1 virus, this mucus can get trapped in the narrow airways of asthmatics, which can result in further complications.
