Based upon gender studies done on asthmatics, it has been found that lesser number of women develop asthma during childhood but the prevalence increases more in adulthood. Moreover, 65% of asthma related deaths occur in women. The higher occurrence of deaths in women could be attributed to hormonal changes, amongst other things.
