There are primarily 3 types of advanced medical techniques to treat and, in some cases, possibly cure lung cancer – invasive surgical resection, chemotherapy and radio therapy. Surgery is generally used as treatment for the very early stages of lung cancer development. For treating cancers that have spread to the lymph nodes, a combination of chemotherapy, radio therapy and occasional surgery is used. Where cancerous tumors have spread via the blood stream to vital body parts, chemo therapy and radio therapy is used.
