Infectious mononucleosis is actually caused by Epstein Barr virus. It is also known as glandular virus. It is marked by sore throat, fatigue and high fever. Nowadays it is found worldwide.

A cat can’t get mono from human. It is a viral disease can spread through sexual contact. There are few other ways of its transmission. But the cats are out of mono.

A mononucleosis carrier can’t keep one away from giving blood. As a viral disease it is contagious. But if you have recovered from the illness in the past then you have the capacity to donate blood to anyone. Then there is no chance of transmitting the disease to anyone.

After getting infected by mononucleosis anyone can be a carrier. This is a disease which can’t be totally cured. Antibiotics can remove the sign of the disease but the virus remains in the body forever.

EBV is the cause of mononucleosis. One can recover between 1-2 months. But the virus remains inactive in the body. It will be reactive periodically.
