  1. I have always heard the reason you get an ear infection after a cold is because the inner ear is a warm moist environment. If you are wanting to grow something that is type of environment you want. The dampness and the close quarters allow bacteria to multiply rapidly. The bacteria is already present and after the bulk of the infection has subsided, the residual amount stays in the inner ear setting up a painful infection.
