Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles, or the sacs from which each hair grows. When bacteria or fungi enter the skin via the hair follicle and causes irritation, an infection occurs. This bacteria that causes folliculitis is contagious and can spread from one person to the other. Hence, avoid using towels, razors or washcloths which are being used by the person with this infection.
