Does emphysema get worse during cold weather?

It is possible. If you have emphysema breathing cold air causes constriction of the airways. This restricts the air flow into and out of the lungs tough. Make sure that you wear a scarf in to keep you cozy.

  1. I’ve often wondered how cold weather effects those with emphysema and asthma. Thanks for sharing this. Aside from wearing a scarf, are there other things you can do to help with the pain? I’ve heard of breathing masks, but didn’t know how well these work.
